Losing body fat is easier said than done. With the obesity levels climbing each year the number of people overweight with excess body fat has reached epidemic levels. You may be like thousands of others that have tried the latest and not so greatest diet pills or energy drinks in hopes that this would rev up your fat burning furnace. Or perhaps you are eating only carrots and cucumbers or trying the latest fad diet to shed unwanted fat. The weight loss industry is one of the largest and most profitable industries. You see commercial after commercial advertising the latest break through. So it’s no wonder people are so anxious to give it a try. But if you are tired of the empty promises some of these products produce, then break free from they hype and try these 10 natural fat busting methods.

Fat Busters Tip #1 – Add the Good Fats
Add fats to your diet. Not just any fats but the fatty acids your body needs like Omega-3 and Omega-6. Our bodies need certain nutrients and the right fatty acids are one of them. Since we do not produce certain fatty acids we must get them from the foods we eat. Fishes like salmon and tuna are a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids. Healthy fats can be found in many different foods. The good fats are the monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Other foods that contain the good fats include almonds, avocados, peanut butter, and many nuts and seeds.

Fat Busters Tip #2 – Eliminate the Bad Fats
We’ve all heard the terms good fats and bad fats but may not really know what to look for. In order to eliminate and reduce the wrong fats you need to understand what they are and where they come from. The bad fats are trans fats. These are processed fats which you want to try and eliminate completely. Also stay clear of or reduce saturated fats. Learn to read the food labels for these fats. Look at the ingredients as well for things like “partially hydrogenated oils” as this means trans fat. Foods to stay clear of to eliminate or reduce the bad fats include fried foods like French fries or donuts, pastries, pie crusts or cookies and crackers. Also watch the stick margarines and shortenings.

Fat Busters Tip #3 – Natural versus Processed
When making your food selections make them natural or as close to as possible. The closer to natural your foods are the higher the nutritional value. This means you are getting more bang for your calories with raw foods or foods with as little processing as possible. Foods that come in their natural state like veggies and fruits are a great source of vitamins and minerals and tend to be lower in calories and fat. So eat your veggies instead of drinking vegetable juice. This goes for your fruits as well. Eating an apple is better than drinking a cup of apple juice. Not only do raw fruits and vegetables give you more vitamins and minerals but are higher in dietary fibers. Also opt for whole grain foods in your bread and cereal selections. Whole wheat bread will provide more nutrients and dietary fiber than it’s white bread counterpart.

Fat Busters Tip #4 – Count your Calories
Nobody likes to have to count each and every morsel we put in our mouth, but if you are trying to reduce weight and lose fat then you need to make sure you are not exceeding your calories for weight loss. Each person’s caloric needs will vary depending on several factors like age, current weight, gender and height. So make sure you know the proper calories for you and then start counting each day to stay within your limits. Make the calories you select count by reducing the “goodies” and instead eating more salads and healthy foods. This way you can still eat within your calorie range without having to feel hungry.

Fat Busters Tip #5 – Exercise
This last tip is probably the one that will ignite your fat burning furnace the fastest. It’s time to get up off the couch and get active. When you are more active with structured exercises or even fun activities, your body is burning fat and calories. Create a weekly exercise routine that adds both aerobics and strength training. With aerobics you are burning fat and calories and can keep your metabolism active long after your workout is done. With strength training you are building lean muscle mass. The more lean muscle mass you have the higher your metabolic rate. This means you will be burning more calories and fat doing everyday activities. This increase in your metabolism even helps you burn more calories while at total rest like sleeping. So if you only have time to include one of the fat busting tips, be sure to make it this one.
